One day on a headland walk at the coast, my wife and I were looking out to the sea when we heard some chirping behind us in the trees. A pair of fairy wrens were nesting in a banksia, darting about the branches. I wanted to create a painting that encompassed the view in front of us as well as the wrens and banksia tree behind us. I also love playing around with the two dimensional pattern of the flowers and branches over the ocean backdrop.
