At our local pub up the mountain there is a resident peacock that gets a lot of paparazzi attention from the lunchtime visitors, occasionally myself included. It wanders around the beer garden hoping to get some scraps but I prefer to see it snuggled in amongst the gardens. Peacocks are an unusual example of natural selection gone wild, the extravagantly beautiful tail, used to impress the females has evolved to be so large that it is actually cumbersome.
